National Research Council of Spain (Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC)) published the July 2020 edition of Webometrics ranking.

Webometrics is a research effort, created to promote open access to education. The ranking evaluates the internet presence of Universities, which are evaluated by visibility (number of external surfaces, referring to the University website), presence (total number of pages on the official website), transparency (according to Google Scholar Citations) and excellence (reflecting the publication performance in high-impact magazines).

The new edition of the ranking reflects the performance growth of Ural State Medical University in comparison to both national and international peers.

The University has improved its last year’s result of 299th place by reaching the 152nd rating position in the national ranking. Worldwide position has reached 5 249th place against 10 442nd in July 2019.

Commenting on the ranking performance, Mikhail Flyagin, Vice-Rector for perspective development and international relation of USMU, has pointed out that the improvement of the rating position is an appropriate result of the systematic effort of the team to improve online performance of the University. A new approach to social networks was employed. An official Facebook page of the University was opened in October 2019. Official accounts of USMU on VK and Instagram were rebranded as well. Focus on providing relevant information on our official website is especially relevant for organizing the intake campaign at the midst of current epidemiological situation.
