Anton Kodintsev, a postgraduate student of the Ural State Medical University, is developing an express method for the early detection of Alzheimer’s disease. For diagnosis, it is supposed to analyze changes in the concentration of amyloid-β and tau protein in saliva. “If in this way we can find patients with a high risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease, we can include them in studies of drugs that delay the onset of the disease. Now drugs are used when the disease is in a pronounced stage: there is dementia, severe disorders in the brain, and so on,”said Anton.
