May 12-14 at the First St. Petersburg State Medical University. IP Pavlova hosted the 5th Anniversary International Open Olympiad in Anatomy, which was attended by 28 teams from all over Russia and neighboring countries.

Students of our university: Polyanok Alexandra Olegovna, group OLD-202, Abrosimov Alexey Vladimirovich, group OLD-219, Kokorina Margarita Leonidovna, group OLD-201, Taksatov Kirill Andreevich, group OLD-229, Chikatuev Artem Arsenievich, group OLD-328, in accompanied by the assistant of the department Mostova Ekaterina Mikhailovna took part in the Olympiad for the first time.

The preparation of the team under the leadership of Yalunin Nikolai Viktorovich, Associate Professor of the Department of Human Anatomy, was in full swing. Without rest, until the very Olympiad, Nikolai Viktorovich shared his knowledge and skills with students and instilled confidence and calmness. It certainly brought results!

In the team round, students of our university took an honorable third place! Alexandra Polyanok took the third and second places in the personal tests in terms of practical skills and theoretical knowledge! At the creative competition, the guys cheerfully told about our university in verse. A pleasant surprise was the appearance of Professor Ivan Vasilyevich Gaivoronsky, who personally handed over well-deserved diplomas.

During the event, we got acquainted with a new visualization tool for us – Pirogov’s interactive table, which, as it turns out, is already used in most medical universities in our country. This is a great tool that not only complements the existing methods of studying anatomy, allowing you to see what is hidden in the exhibits and pictures of the textbook, but also allows you to develop spatial thinking and make the process of studying anatomy even more fun. Of course, we also wanted to have such a table in our university!

Communicating with colleagues, it was nice to hear warm words about our esteemed professors, to share our experience and adopt someone else’s, to take a fresh look at familiar moments.

Participation in such events is important for both students and teachers. After all, this is an opportunity for new acquaintances, gaining new knowledge, exchanging experiences and building friendships.

Next year, our team is set for rematch and will undoubtedly compete for higher places.
