Natalya Savchenko, postgraduate student of the Ural State Medical University (USMU), became the winner of the 17th All-Russian contest “My country – my Russia”.

Natalia Savchenko took second place in the “My Health” nomination, presenting a project to develop a mobile service to accompany children living with HIV. The main threat to such patients is not the very fact of the presence of the immunodeficiency virus in the blood, but the susceptibility to microorganisms that can cause damage to the skin and mucous membranes. The application will allow the doctor to give the patient personalized recommendations for the prevention and treatment of dermatosis based on the team’s project to study the skin microbiota in HIV-positive children. As a reward, Natalia will receive a valuable prize from the partners of the competition.

“After winning the contest My country – my Russia of the platform Russia – the land of opportunities”, a lot of specialists from other fields began to contact me and offer their assistance in the development of the project. I think that in the future this will result in a high-quality joint project. One feels that they are interested in your project, that they can help you, and immediately want to do something further,”said Natalya Savchenko.

The All-Russian contest My Country – My Russia is aimed at attracting young people to participate in the implementation of priority national projects and solving issues of development of Russian regions, cities and villages. The competition has been running for 17 years and annually attracts thousands of schoolchildren, students, young scientists, educators-innovators and initiative citizens of the country who present their own initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life in Russian territories. In February 2019, the My Country – My Russia contest became part of the Russia – Land of Opportunities presidential platform.

In 2020, the contest was held in 20 thematic nominations covering most areas of the country’s socio-economic development. The Ural Medical University has been supporting the nomination “My Health” for the second year already – the full-time stage of project defense this year took place on the basis of Ural State Medical University in early September.
