25th January – the Day of Russian Students 25-01-2022 News

Dear students of the Ural State Medical University!

Traditionally, January 25 is the Day of Russian Students – Tatyana’s Day!

It was on this day in 1755 that Empress Elizaveta Petrovna signed a decree “on the establishment in Moscow of one university and two gymnasiums.” The well-known statesman Ivan Shuvalov became the curator of the university. He, together with the great Russian scientist Mikhail Lomonosov, promoted the idea of creating a Moscow “temple of sciences” in every possible way. It is known that Shuvalov was one of the favorites of the empress and a significant official. He was also called “the minister of the newborn Russian education.”
And the date of signing the decree is not accidental: for this, the name day of Shuvalov’s mother, Tatyana Rostislavskaya, was chosen
After the revolution, the university was renamed into Moscow State University !

On behalf of the Vice-Rector for Prospective Development and International Activities Flyagin M.A. and the entire international block of the university, we congratulate each of you on the holiday of Russian students – Tatyana’s Day!
Let your student years be a happy time for you, filled with knowledge, communication, vivid impressions and successful undertakings! With all my heart we wish you to achieve all your goals and be fully realized on your chosen path!
