Resident therapists of the Ural State Medical University (USMU) Vladimir Necheporuk and Alexander Kugaevsky in April began working directly with patients of the Central Clinical Hospital No. 1 who were diagnosed with coronavirus. Vladimir Necheporuk told us about how the usual situation in the hospital changed almost overnight due to the COVID-19 outbreak, and how residents joined the fight against the infection.
“Officially, the outbreak occurred on April 20, when in the morning we were informed of more than 100 positive smears over the weekend. Then a large-scale routing began, dynamic monitoring of all patients who had confirmed coronavirus, and all negative patients were soon discharged home, said doctor Necheporuk. According to the resident, by April 24, the Department was completely repurposing only for patients with COVID-19.
“We worked from 8:00 to 17:00 every day; for the most part it is working with medical records – release, transfers, and so on. In addition, of course, medical rounds in pathogen coats – Vladimir Necheporuk told. He noted that the conditions for living and working are good – the hospital staff settled in the hotel “Moskovskaya Gorka”. Now residents continue their work, helping colleagues in the fight against COVID-19.
It should be noted that more than 500 students and more than 200 residents of USMU work in hospitals, clinics, and the outpatient clinic of the region today.
