Russian doctors discuss issues of pediatrics at a conference in Ekaterinburg Russian doctors, representatives of leading scientific schools of pediatricians in the Ural Federal District, discuss topical issues of diagnosis, treatment and prevention children’s diseases at the interregional scientific and practical conference “Pediatrics-2022: together we create a healthy future”. The conference is being held on November 22-23 in Ekaterinburg with the support of the Union of Pediatricians of Russia, the Office of the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Ural Federal District, the Ministry of Health of the Sverdlovsk Region, the Ural State Medical University and the Regional Children’s Clinical Hospital. “We are pediatricians, responsible for children, for the future of the country. Today we will have a discussion about the most topical issues of the organization of pediatric care for children, health protection, methods of diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation. Of course, many of you will take away from Ekaterinburg not only pleasant impressions from communication with colleagues, but also new approaches, methods and best practices in providing pediatric medical care,” said Olga Kovtun, Rector of UGMU, opening the conference. The symposiums “Topical issues of respiratory diseases in children”, “Vaccination at the turn of the century”, “Infectious diseases of childhood”, “Predictive pediatrics”, “Pressing issues of pediatric neurology” and others are held for two days. A meeting of the chief freelance specialists of pediatricians in the Ural Federal District and a meeting of the chief doctors of children’s hospitals of the subjects of the Russian Federation is planned. “Every year more and more students enroll in pediatrics. This year, about 300 future pediatricians have enrolled, and almost 1.6 thousand students are currently studying who we are waiting for so much. The first plenary session of the conference was dedicated to the 65th anniversary of the Regional Children’s Clinical Hospital. The meeting was opened by the President of the Union of Pediatricians of Russia, Academician of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences Professor Leila Namazova-Baranova. She made a remote presentation on the history of Russian pediatrics and the challenges modern pediatricians are facing. The topic was continued by Professor, Honored Doctor of the Russian Federation and the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania, Chairman of the Board of the Association of Children’s Hospitals of Russia Nikolay Vaganov. He spoke about the outstanding doctors who have made a contribution to pediatrics, and emphasised that the Ural School of Pediatrics is one of the leading in the country. The flagship in the treatment of diseases in children in the Sverdlovsk region is the Regional Children’s Clinical Hospital. The chief physician of the medical institution Oleg Averyanov emphasised that today the CSTO is a medical cluster, where 16 regional centers are based. “In 2017, the CSTO team developed a five-year strategic development concept. Our main mission is “the needs of the patient above all”. There are also unconditional values that we adhere to: safety, mercy, efficiency, honesty and teamwork.
