Olga Kovtun, rector of Ural State Medical University (USMU), together with vice-rectors, inspected the progress of repairs in the dormitory at 29 Tokarey street. Rector said, that this is the first renovation of a building which was built in 1975, so it is a really important event for the university.

To date, the premises on the first, second and third floors of one of the dormitory blocks have been repaired, said Pavel Mamonov, the vice-rector for property complex management of USMU: «The flooring was replaced, the ceiling was painted, the walls of the rooms were glued – taking into account the choice of color by the student council, new modern room doors and new lamps were installed». In addition, the sanitary facilities were replaced with new sanitary fittings and the walls were tiled with ceramic tiles.

Evgeniy Vostryakov, student of General Medicine Faculty, noted «In my opinion, our dormitory required renovation for a long time. The environment and condition of the home in which a student lives 24/7 also affects the educational process and the level of training – in my point of view, these things are interrelated. In addition, the renovation will give the student community a new platform for self-realization, because fresh ideas are born in a new place for the implementation, for example, of various coworking or sport structure».
