Ural State Medical University has improved its position in the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities. The organizing committee of the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities has increased the position of the Ural State Medical University by 261 points in the global standings. Now USMU is ranked 5,371. In 2019, the University was ranked only 10442, and in 2020 it was ranked 5587.

Webometrics is a research project created to advance open access to knowledge initiatives. This ranking assesses the presence of universities in the Internet space. The evalution criteria are “Impact” (the number of external sources creating backlinks to the University website is estimated), “Openness” (the data of Google Scholar Citations are assessed) and “Excellence” (the effectiveness of publication activity of the University staff in international journals with a high impact factor is estimated).

Since January 2020, in terms of “Openness”, USMU has risen from 8062nd position to 5954th, and in terms of “Excellence” – from 6115th to 4818th.

Mikhail Flyagin, Vice-Rector for Perspective Development and International Relations, emphasized that “the improvement of the University’s position in the Webometrics ranking testifies to the correctness of a systematic approach to the development of USMU’s presentation on the Internet.” The full ranking can be found on the official Webometrics website.
