The Head of the Department is the Honored doctor of Russia, doctor of medical sciences, Professor Arkhipov Mikhail Viktorovich.

The Department was organized in 1979 and located at the therapeutic units of SOKB №1, one of the largest and reputable medical institutions of the Sverdlovsk region, where there are all profiles of internal pathology. Courses of advanced training in functional methods of research are conducted on the basis of the Department of functional diagnostics equipped with all the modern methods of research.
The second clinical setting of the Department is the municipal clinical hospital №33 (“New hospital”), with the modern cardiology unit, units of intensive care, interventional methods of treatment of coronary artery disease.
