The Head of Department is the doctor of medical sciences, Professor Gvozdevych Vladimir Dmitrievich.
The Department is equipped with modern computers, laptops, multimedia projectors.
The Department has a student scientific society, whose members participate in different Russian conferences.
Every year since 2010 at the Department of operative surgery and topographic anatomy of USMU there is university and district stages of the student contest on operative surgery. The team of USMU students won many times the first place in the national competition in operative surgery.
