Students of the Ural State Medical University were among the winners of the presidential platform contest “Russia is a country of opportunities”. According to the first results of the competition, 7 people representing USMU received the opportunity to go on a trip across Russia within the framework of the project “More than a trip”.
The participants of the competition are the students who decided to join the work of a new Competence Center opened on the basis of USMU. The project is organized so that future doctors can develop the necessary supra-professional skills during their studies at the university and have advantages in the professional environment right after graduation.
“Back in school, we had electives where we studied and developed soft skills. When I found out about this opportunity at our university, I immediately took advantage of it. The Competence Center allows you to determine the level of soft skills for free and build a strategy for their development. On the platform “Russia is a country of opportunities” there is a list of soft skills available for mastering, and it will be replenished. For my own part, I would single out three soft skills for a medical student, which are time management, stress management and focus on results in work”, — said Gordey Burov (in the photo), a 3rd-year student of the Medical and Preventive faculty of USMU, one of the winners of the “More than a Journey” competition.
Receiving a diploma of graduation from USMU, alumni of the Competence Center will receive additional certificates of mastering soft skills.
“It is clear that more and more employers require employees to have soft skills. You can become a real professional only by mastering them. Each one of us does this during his/her life. Some people do it consciously, some not”, — noted Gordey Burov.
The winner of the competition also became a 3rd-year student of the Medicine and Prevention faculty Arina Sarapulova. She was interested in studying at the Competence Center as soon as she became aware of this opportunity at the university:
“It seems to me that any student after graduation should be comprehensively developed, be able to properly present themselves, their skills, and be competitive in everything. I would like to learn the basics of entrepreneurship, learn how to manage time competently and understand how a successful public performance should be built.”
Meanwhile, there is still an opportunity to upgrade your skills and get the chance to go on a trip at the same time as the second wave of the competition has started. If you want to participate, you need to do this:
