In 2007, in USMU the Department of cardiovascular surgery was established, the head of the Department is the doctor of medical sciences, Professor Idov Eduard Mikhailovich.
Currently, the Department provides training of students of 4th, 5th and 6th years of training of the faculties of general medicine, pediatrics and dentistry as well as graduate training in cardiovascular surgery in internship, clinical residency and also at the faculty of advanced training.

The clinical setting of the Department is the Regional center of the heart and blood vessels, including the nine clinical departments of cardiovascular surgery and cardiology, which present modern methods of diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of diseases of the heart and blood vessels.
